Basketball veteran Carmelo Anthony revealed on Monday that he is leaving the NBA after 19 seasons, 10 All-Star appearances, and the No. 9 scoring position in league history.

In a video montage of his professional high points, he commented, “I remember the days when I had nothing.” “Just a ball on the court, and a wish for more. But I found solace in basketball. My neighbourhoods, the proudly represented cities, and the supporters who helped me along the journey all had a strong sense of purpose. I will always be indebted to those individuals and places for making me who I am today, Carmelo Anthony.

Prior to being chosen third overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA Draught, Anthony spent one season at Syracuse University, where he won a national title. In seven of his eight seasons there, the team made the playoffs.

Since then, he has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he spent his final season, as well as the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and New York Knicks.

He has one bronze and three gold Olympic medals, and his 28,289 points are the ninth-most in league history. LeBron James, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlain, and Shaquille O’Neal are all ahead of him in the standings.

“All I want to say, my brother, is congrats…James, who was in the same draught class as Anthony and played on the Olympic and Lakers teams with him, said: “I can sit here and chat for hours and hours and hours, and I’m just so happy of you man and so blessed and grateful to be a part of your journey. “One of the best players I’ve ever seen play,” you said.

His former Olympic and Rockets teammate Chris Paul tweeted, “Future Hall of Famer!!”

‘Twenty years of greatness. The men’s basketball team from Syracuse expressed gratitude for being included in it.
Anthony claimed that his 16-year-old son Kiyan, a star high school basketball player, will be his greatest legacy.

The time has come for Anthony to say goodbye to the court where he built his name and the sport that gave him meaning and pride. “With this sweet farewell to the NBA, I am looking forward to what the future has in store for me.”
