With the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s surface, India has written history. Days after Russia’s mission ended in failure, the Chandrayaan-3 lander successfully made contact with the moon’s south pole, which is regarded to be a possible source of water and oxygen. The rocket was launched on July 14 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), taking off from the nation’s primary spaceport in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. What does success entail for India, though? Dr. Surendra Pal, a former ISRO advisor, tells Aditi Prasad of the Hindustan Times.

]]>

As a testament to its originator and steadfast supporter of reading, Dr. Paulette Harris, Augusta University’s literacy centre has recently been renamed the Dr. Paulette P. Harris reading Centre. This renaming resulted from a kind donation made by Harris’s widower, Steve Ruby, who wished to preserve her legacy and continue her work to promote literacy.

Dr. Harris was renowned for her love of learning and commitment to empowering others with the abilities they need to succeed. She established the Literacy Centre in 1990, beginning assisting adults who had trouble reading and writing before extending her services to youngsters.

Dr. Harris had a tremendous impact on thousands of people during her 31-year career.

At a unique ceremony held at the literacy centre on August 14, the center’s rebranding was formally announced. The HUB for Community Innovation on Chafee Avenue houses the centre, which debuts in October 2022.

Dr. Harris’ services to the community were praised by Dr. Judi Wilson, dean of the College of Education and Human Development and a longtime friend of Dr. Harris. Dr. Wilson praised Dr. Harris for being a superb leader, educator, and philanthropist who genuinely cared about the community and the College of Education.

The National Reading Styles Institute, a renowned educational organisation dedicated to enhancing literacy, named the Literacy Centre under Dr. Harris’ direction a National Exemplary Model. Additionally, Dr. Harris was essential in the development of satellite literacy programmes in regional school systems.

Dr. Harris served in a number of capacities over her 42 years at Augusta University, including those of faculty member, director of clinical/field experiences, chairperson, certifying officer, and temporary dean of the College of Education. At the time of her passing in 2021, she had the longest tenure in the University System of Georgia.

In addition to being committed to her job at Augusta University, Dr. Harris was also heavily involved in the neighbourhood. The Metro Adult Literacy Council, the Art Factory, CSRA Women in Philanthropy, Leadership Augusta, Greater Augusta Arts Council, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta are just a few of the organisations she served on the boards of. She also made contributions to the Community Foundation for the CSRA’s grants committee.

Dr. Brooks A. Keel, president of Augusta University, expressed appreciation for Dr. Harris’ services and emphasised her awareness of the transforming potential of literacy. He remarked that innumerable children and adults who had previously struggled with reading now have access to knowledge and possibilities because of her work.Dr. Paulette P. Harris’ unrelenting dedication to improving literacy is honoured by calling the literacy centre at Augusta University. Future generations will continue to be inspired by her, and the neighbourhood will benefit.

]]>

Oblivion Wing Yveltal and Geomancy Xerneas, two potent Pokémon in the world of Pokémon GO, just made their debuts with their unique attacks. Trainers are excited about these updates because they provide PvP bouts additional options and methods. In this article, we’ll examine the pros and cons of these Pokémon, examine their traits and abilities, and talk about how well they’d fare in various leagues.

Potential of Yveltal in PvP:

Yveltal, a Pokémon notable for its Dark and Flying typing, has a special combination of attacks that can be useful in some circumstances. Oblivion Wing, Yveltal’s new move in the Master League, adds more protection and damage. It is less exceptional in this league because it necessitates giving up other beneficial coverage techniques. Oblivion Wing, on the other hand, proves to be a substantial upgrade in the Ultra League because it can take advantage of the weaknesses of the Grass, Bug, and Fighting kinds. Consider focusing on Yveltal in the Ultra League if you’re a trainer looking for a competitive advantage.

The Geomantic Transformation of Xerneas:

The Fairy-type Pokémon Xerneas now has the game-altering move Geomancy. Trainers have been waiting patiently for this move, which greatly improves Xerneas’ combat effectiveness. Xerneas, who was previously dependent on the meagre Tackle move, is now a formidable opponent. Xerneas is a tough opponent thanks to Geomancy’s STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) and greater energy production. By using Geomancy, Xerneas is able to defeat new Pokémon, including as Yveltal, Garchomp, and both varieties of Giratina. Building a Geomancy Xerneas should be a trainer’s first priority for Master League matches.

Comparing Moves and Statistics:

Because their starting stats are comparable, Yveltal and Xerneas are equally potent competitors. Due to its energy production, Yveltal’s Snarl move is typically favoured, while Xerneas’ Tackle move is no longer effective with the advent of Geomancy. Dark Pulse and Focus Blast, two of Yveltal’s charge skills, offer superior defence against a variety of foes. On the other hand, Xerneas gains from abilities like Moonblast and Close Combat, which enable it to successfully combat Dragons, Darks, and Fighters.

Yveltal and Xerneas, in conclusion, add fascinating new elements to Pokémon GO PvP combat. In the Master League, Xerneas’ Geomancy is a game-changer while Yveltal’s Oblivion Wing excels in the Ultra League. When choosing which Pokémon to purchase, trainers should carefully evaluate their team’s makeup and preferred league. Yveltal and Xerneas are ready to have a big impact on the PvP meta because of their distinctive moves and strong stats. As we continue to explore the realm of Pokémon GO PvP, stay tuned for additional updates and tactics.

Simone Biles, a world-renowned gymnast, competes in the US Classic this weekend for the first time since she was forced to withdraw from numerous events at the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021 due to a “the twisties” attack.

She kept her ideas under wraps until a few weeks ago, but now she claims she can twist just well. She may be back to her record-breaking best, capable of completing the Yurchenko double-pike vault, which no other woman has ever done, according to results from an untelevised national training camp.

In addition to all of that, there’s another reason to be happy: Biles’s comeback provides more proof that gymnastics’ previous culture, which at times cruelly and bizarrely infantilized competitors, may be dying.

Biles, 26, may be referred to as “old” for her sport by pundits. It has been commonly stated that female gymnasts typically enter the sport as teenagers and leave it shortly after. But the reasons are hardly discussed.

Jessica O’Beirne, the long-running GymCastic podcast’s host, stated that having a strong strength-to-weight ratio is a requirement for gymnastics. “Right now, power and strength—more specifically, power—are the focal points. If you don’t have the power, you can’t perform the necessary gymnastics.

Weight was the main focus back in the day. Athletes were under pressure from coaches to eat less to lose weight, and thin was frequently a sign of prepubescence. The TV commentary of previous events provides the best documentation that a small, infantile frame was the ideal; gymnastics aficionados now gleefully share around video of the poorest specimens.

One sports documentary stated about Nadia Comaneci and her coach, “She would prove Bela Karolyi’s theory that to wait until after puberty was to waste the best of their years.”

When Comaneci, just 14 years old, earned a perfect 10 at the 1976 Olympics, she enthralled the globe. The world feared she had outgrown the sport in 1980 when she was taller and had the physique of a young woman, not a girl.

Svetlana Boginskaya was described by a commentator as having put on weight prior to the 1991 European Championships. However, she still managed to take first place in the tournament, proving her strength. She’s back here in great shape and appears even skinnier than before.

An odd defence of Tatiana Lysenko, the reigning Olympic beam champion, was made in 1994 by a television analyst. “Many viewers would certainly glance at her and exclaim, ‘Oooh she’s a big girl!’ yet she’s actually a very, very shapely young lady. On television, it’s really challenging to determine these gymnasts’ sizes.

In addition to being harsh and harmful, the pressure to maintain a small figure doesn’t last over time. It puts athletes at risk for the female athlete trifecta, which includes having less energy, a lowered bone density, and missing their period (or having it irregularly). Stress fractures and other severe injuries may result from that.

Jennifer Sey, a national champion in 1986, has spoken about surviving on a diet of lettuce and apples while being coached by a man who yelled, “I don’t coach fat gymnasts!” She admitted to CNN that she competed for two years with a broken ankle.

The 2010 world silver medallist Mattie Larson revealed to me that she once competed after only consuming two Toblerone triangles that day. I felt really exhausted. At the end of practise, I always thought I was going to faint, said Larson. “I started taking so many laxatives every day when I was about 15 or 16. My practise emphasis was insanely different from gymnastics. Don’t pee your pants in your leotard, it was like.

Larson sustained numerous wounds. She said that she gravely hurt both of her feet at a national training camp. “I had to stay the rest of the camp crawling on my hands and knees,” recalled Larson.

Some coaches, according to podcaster O’Beirne, have learned from prior errors. “One of the things that has completely changed is how vital nutrition is now recognised by the public. You will have broken bones frequently during your career and won’t be able to endure what it takes to recover from numerous Olympics if you don’t have your nutrition and if you don’t receive your period early enough, she warned. The athletes who have excelled the most were already in possession of adult bodies. Despite being 4’8”, Biles is unmistakably an adult.

Nowadays, gymnasts lift weights in several nations. Ellie Black, a Canadian gymnast, shares videos of herself “entering beast mode” on Instagram. O’Beirne attributes Black’s longevity to her weight training.

.

Black, who is 27 years old, has participated in three Olympics and won two medals in the world championships last year. The Olympic gold medallist Jade Carey, who is 23, and Jordan Chiles, who took home three medals at the world championships last year, are both competitors with Biles this weekend who defy the stereotype of the prepubescent teen.

Similar to Biles, Carey and Chiles can extend their reach from the vault farther for greater execution points, and they can add additional twists to their routines for higher difficulty scores. Chinese women gymnasts, who frequently have less strong physiques, haven’t taken home an Olympic or world championship medal on vault in more than a decade.

O’Beirne claimed that certain athletic administrators are still fixated on how skinny gymnasts are. She claimed that a representative from USA Gymnastics named a promising gymnast and remarked that she had “the international look,” which has long been a slang term for slim. O’Beirne admitted, “I laughed out loud because I assumed he was kidding. He was unaware that this was a hazardous phrase.

But as she pointed out, gymnasts are now far more exposed to the outside world. “The body pride that college athletes have now is something we did not see in the past,” she said.”They were able to in some ways because of social media because they were like, ‘Oh, I’m very hot, and I’m going to share a bunch of photographs of my butt because I’ve worked really hard for that butt and it looks fantastic.’ Yes, on the one hand – male gaze, etc. However, if they had looked like that back in the day, they would have been body shamed and dismissed from a squad. Now they don’t, though.

Mega Millions drawing on August 4, 23, with a $1.55 billion jackpot

Watch ABC7NY for the Mega Millions drawing every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59 p.m.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing is on the verge of breaking the game’s jackpot record!

No ticket had all six of the Friday night lottery numbers.

The winning numbers for Friday’s drawing were 45, 30, 52, 56, 11, and a Mega Ball of 20.

But hold off on throwing away your tickets. In Commack, a $1 million ticket was purchased.

$1.55 billion is the anticipated jackpot roll ($757.2 million in cash).

Since the game’s last jackpot winner in April, there have been 31 straight drawings.

The odds of matching the numbers on five white balls and one additional mega ball are one in 302.6 million, which is why winning the jackpot is so difficult. The chances of winning smaller awards, which start at $2, are better.

There were 5,331,114 winning tickets across all prize tiers in the drawing on August 4. To win the game’s second-tier prize, nine tickets have to match all five white balls. Due to the fact that two of them came with the optional Megaplier, which was 2X for this drawing and was sold in Tennessee and Michigan, they are each worth $2 million.

In Tennessee, a second Match 5-winning ticket was sold for the usual second-tier reward of $1 million. Six additional tickets each from Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas each win $1 million.

Every Tuesday and Friday at 10:59, you can watch the Mega Millions draws on abc7NY.com/lottery.
Here are the ten biggest prizes ever won in the United States, along with the states where the winning tickets were purchased:

  1. $2.04 billion Powerball win on November 8, 2022 (one California-based ticket)
  2. On January 13, 2016, three tickets from California, Florida, and Tennessee won $1.586 billion in the Powerball drawing.
  3. Mega Millions, Oct. 23, 2018, $1.537 billion (one ticket from South Carolina)
  4. Mega Millions jackpot of $1.35 billion, Jan. 13, 2023 (one Maine-based ticket).
  5. Mega Millions jackpot of $1.337 billion, drawn on July 29, 2022 (one Illinois ticket).
  6. One ticket from Michigan won $1.05 billion on January 22, 2021 in the Mega Millions.
  7. One Wisconsin-sourced ticket won $768.4 million on March 27, 2019, in the Powerball.
  8. $758.7 million Powerball win on August 23, 2017 (one Massachusetts-based ticket)
  9. Powerball win of $774.6 million on February 6, 2023 (one ticket from Washington state);
  10. One ticket from Maryland won $731.1 million on January 20, 2021 in the Powerball.
  11. Visit nylottery.ny.gov for additional details on the New York lottery and to view the results.
  12. By calling the State’s free, confidential HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY (1-877-846-7369) or by texting HOPENY (467369) New Yorkers who are battling with a gambling addiction or who know someone who is can get support. Text message rates may apply.

A throng gathered for an event that police claim was not authorised or approved by the city, and Cenat, a well-known YouTube and Twitch celebrity, was detained as a result.

According to officials, a social media influencer has been accused with “inciting to riot” after a giveaway in a New York City park descended into violence on Friday.

According to an NYPD official, Kai Cenat, a live-streamer of video games, had been charged with riot, inciting riot, and unlawful assembly.

They said that he was given a desk appearance ticket, which entails that he must show up in court at a later time.

According to New York City Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, thousands of primarily young individuals gathered on Manhattan’s Union Square on Friday afternoon, and Cenat, 21, had been taken from the area for his safety.

According to Maddrey, 65 persons were detained. He said that thirty of them were children.

People tossed bottles, pyrotechnics, rocks, and paint cans that had been taken from a construction site at the park before they were brought into custody, according to Maddrey.

He said that three policemen had been hurt. A sergeant’s hand was fractured.

He said, “Officers were attacked, we were crushed,” and claimed he had been struck by “multiple objects.”

He remarked, “I personally saw young kids experiencing panic attacks, having anxiety attacks. “Out here, people were in pain.”

Cenat stated on his Twitch account on Wednesday that he would hold a “huge” giveaway featuring gaming consoles, computers, keyboards, chairs, and other accessories.

The video has more than 2 million views as of Friday afternoon.

The event was scheduled to start at 4 p.m., but by 3 p.m. the park was already full, according to NBC New York.

Maddrey claimed that the city had neither approved nor disapproved of the event.

Aerial footage from Friday afternoon showed a large crowd assembled in a Manhattan park. People could be seen standing on automobiles in the video, which appeared to show a battle.

Officers in plainclothes and uniform could be seen around the gathering, and at one point a loud bang could be heard.

By 5:30 p.m., people had started to leave the area and police had blocked all of the entrances. Teens in groups were giggling and saying they didn’t worry about their safety.

One 16-year-old, who went by the name Rodrigo, claimed to be a fan of Cenat and had come in hopes of winning cash or even a gaming device.

Then, he continued, “there was a huge storm of people running and there were cops everywhere.”

Two more teenagers claimed they went for the “vibes” and to meet Cenat, whom one of them called the “best person in the world,” but instead witnessed pushing, shoving, people throwing items, and a child who “almost passed out.”

Cenat has been making material for years, but his most popular Twitch streams include games, practical jokes, and funny reactions.

After finishing a 30-day nonstop livestream, colloquially known as a “subathon,” he smashed the Twitch record for most active subscribers in March.

The outlandish actions that Cenat is known for have put him into some issues on the platform.

On Wednesday, Alabama police questioned the account of a lady who allegedly sparked a frantic search when she vanished for two days after calling 911 to report a toddler straying onto the roadway. Carlee Russell claimed to have been kidnapped and put into a car on Thursday, but police said they were unable to corroborate her story.

After the 25-year-old returned home on Saturday, there was a great deal of curiosity about where she had gone and what had transpired.

CARLEE RUSSELL RESEARCHED AMBER ALERT, MOVIE ‘TAKEN’ PRIOR TO DISAPPEARANCE, POLICE SAY

The Hoover Police Department conducted a press conference on Wednesday. They aired the entire 911 call during it.The following is a transcript of the exchange Russell had on the evening of July 13 with a 911 operator: Richard: “Hello. On Interstate 459, I can see a young child wandering by themself. Caller to 911: “Hold on, where are you?” I’m right close to exit 10, Russell says. Okay, so you’re in front of the exit, says 911. No, Russell. Are you travelling north or south, 911 operator? Russell: “I’m approaching 280. towards Tuscaloosa. “Okay, and was the child on the left or right side?” the 911 operator said. By Russell: “On the right side.” And were they moving north or south when you called 911? “They’re walking towards Tuscaloosa,” said Russell. They’re walking southbound, so call 911.How old do they appear to be?

Russell: “Like a toddler, kind of. Oh, maybe three or four.”

Did you stop along with them? Do you remain with them? Are you now with the child?

No, Russell, I’m not. I’m still driving. Though, I can see them.

When we arrive, would you mind staying there?

Russell: “Yeah, sure, sure, yeah.”

What kind of vehicle are you in, 911?

Russell says, “I’m driving a red Mercedes-Benz.”

Caller to 911: “Are you in a [car] or an SUV?”

Richard: “SUV. Sorry, but it’s a sedan.

“Can you put your hazards on?” the 911 operator asks.

“Yeah, they’re on,” said Russell.

Do you remember speaking to the youngster or saying anything to them?

Russell says “No.”

Calling 911: “Do they appear to be hurt?”

Russel: “No, they don’t.”

Caller: “Are they white, black, hispanic, or Asian?”

It’s Russell who says, “They’re white.”

911: “Okay… Is it a woman or a man?

Russell: “I believe it to be a boy—a young boy.”

911: “Okay, now… Does he have on any clothes?

Russell says, “Yes.”

Caller to 911: “Okay, what is he wearing?”

He appears to be wearing only a white T-shirt and no trousers, says Russell. It appears to be a nappy.

Dispatcher: “And you don’t see any cars anywhere?”

Russell: “No, there aren’t any cars anywhere.”

(Pause)

“Okay, what’s your name?” asked 911.

Russell: “Carlee Russell here.

911: “And from where you are at, you don’t see anyone with the child, correct?”

“No, no, no,” said Russell, “but I can’t see them that well.”

911: “Okay, try your best to keep an eye on him; I don’t want you to lose sight of him. Does he wear shoes, too?

No, not that I can see, Russell. I genuinely don’t see that.

911: “All right, fine. They are with me now. Just keep an eye on them if you can. An officer is en route. Okay?”

Russell says, “Okay, thanks.”

When calling 911, say “Thank you.”

According to the Bucks County District Attorney, TDI Towing, a Pennsylvania tow truck company, was nabbed for allegedly running a multi-million dollar “organised criminal enterprise that specialised in the theft of catalytic converters throughout the Delaware Valley region.”

Allegedly, TDI would pay criminals who brought stolen catalytic converters to the tow yard at least $10,000 per evening. “On some nights, there would [be] 30 transactions with some thieves showing up more than once,” the DA stated in a release. “TDI Towing paid $1,000 for a single converter on several occasions.”

According to the DA, TDI typically paid $300 per unit. According to reports, this continued for three years, with 175 catalytic converters arriving on average each week.

Further, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland ordered the execution of 32 search warrants and the making of 21 arrests as part of a nationwide bust in November 2022, suggesting that a catalytic converter theft criminal wave had swept the country since the start of the pandemic. In February, both houses of Congress submitted legislation that would serialise catalytic converters, strengthen the penalty for their theft, and otherwise address the claimed disruption of a $100 million theft ring.

The DA stated that because to supply chain concerns, the market prices for the three primary metals used in catalytic converters—rhodium, platinum, and palladium—increased significantly during the epidemic.

The Bucks County DA “began to focus not only on individual thieves, or ‘cutters,’ but also the organisations or businesses purchasing the stolen” parts since the theft of catalytic converters became so bad, according to the DA.

The DA claims to have video of a stolen catalytic converter being brought to TDI at night while it is still hot. According to the authorities, TDI looked to be open for business during the day.

Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub described the footage as “too hot to handle.”

Although we have noticed an apparent increase in shady towing practises and prices, our analysis of around a dozen incidents revealed no evidence of thefts similar to these.

“TDI Towing was registered with the state as Diversified Towing & Recovery Inc., but was also listed in business documents as TDI Inc. and Tow Decisions,” claims the DA.

The majority of those accused, according to the district attorney, were either TDI owner Michael Williams’ employees or relatives, and he was charged with felonies. The DA claimed that one of TDI’s suspected “cutters,” who worked for the company during the day, had “several open warrants” for stealing catalytic converters in Bucks County and “would always flee back to Philadelphia when police attempted to stop him.” Another TDI employee had been found guilty of stealing 22 catalytic converters, but he later skipped the sentencing hearing.

The DA claimed that in one instance on June 16, 2021, thieves connected to TDI were apprehended while attempting to steal a catalytic converter, but the getaway driver drove towards the detective, slammed into a parked car, and fled. The detective “would have been pinned between the two vehicles if the detective had not moved,” the DA noted.

Following a roughly 12-month investigation, the DA has charged TDI along with 10 adults and one child.

“TDI Towing and its employees were charged with corrupt organisations, criminal conspiracy, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, theft by unlawful taking, theft of catalytic converter, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime, and criminal use of a communication facility,” the press release continued.

Richard Page is the only defendant who hasn’t been charged, and the county is trying to find him. They mention that Page’s left hand is missing fingers. If you have any information, call the Bucks County Detectives at 215-348-6354 or visit www.blogtweets.com.

In a bargain with the Justice Department, President Joe Biden’s son Hunter would admit guilt to federal tax offences but escape prosecution on a related weapons charge, presumably sparing him time in jail.

In accordance with a deal made public on Tuesday, Hunter Biden, 53, will enter a guilty plea for the misdemeanour tax offences. As long as he follows the guidelines established by prosecutors, the agreement will also prevent prosecution on a felony charge of illegally carrying a firearm while using drugs. The resolution of a federal criminal case concurrently with the filing of charges is uncommon but not unheard of.

The agreement puts an end to a protracted Justice Department inquiry into Biden’s second son, who has acknowledged having drug issues in the wake of his brother Beau Biden’s death in 2015. Additionally, it prevents a trial from happening, which would have resulted in days or weeks’ worth of uninteresting headlines for a White House that has steadfastly tried to distance itself from the Justice Department.

The bargain is specifically focused on tax and firearms crimes rather than anything more general or connected to the Democratic president, even if it compels the younger Biden to confess guilt. Though unsuccessful, former president Donald Trump and other Republicans persisted in attempting to use the case to cast a negative light on Joe Biden and cast doubt on the impartiality of the Biden Justice Department.

In his presidential run-off challenge to President Biden in 2024, Trump compared the accord to a “mere traffic ticket,” adding, “Our system is BROKEN!”

If you are the president’s son, you get a preferential deal, according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who also contrasted the conclusion to the Trump documents case that is currently pending in federal court. The identical phrase was used by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another candidate for president.

In a straightforward statement, the White House Counsel’s office stated that the president and first lady Jill Biden “love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life.”

According to two persons with knowledge of the case, the Justice Department will recommend probation for the tax charges against Hunter Biden, which means he won’t have to serve any jail time. But the judge has the last say on whether to accept any agreement. The individuals talked to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak publicly by name.

He must enter a guilty plea to charges of failing to pay more than $100,000 in taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in both 2017 and 2018, which have a potential prison sentence of one year. Afterwards, the back taxes were paid, according to a person familiar with the inquiry.

According to the firearms accusation, Hunter Biden had a Colt Cobra.38 Special handgun in his possession for 11 days in October 2018 while being aware that he used drugs. The Justice Department reported that Hunter Biden had reached a pretrial agreement, despite the fact that the count carries a potential 10-year prison sentence. This most likely indicates that the case will be erased from his record provided he complies with the terms of the agreement.

Hunter Biden’s attorney Christopher Clark stated in a statement that he believed the five-year probe was finally over.

Clark stated, “I know Hunter believes it is crucial to own up to these errors he committed during a time of struggle and addiction in his life. “He looks forward to advancing and continuing his recovery.”

The accord comes as the Justice Department prosecutes Trump, the first former president to be charged with a federal crime, in what may be the most significant case in its history. Hunter Biden’s case was settled just days after former President Trump was indicted on 37 counts for allegedly mishandling secret information at his Florida residence, a case with much more important political ramifications.

An assault of Republican criticism of the “politicisation” of the Justice Department has followed that charge. Republicans in Congress are still looking into practically every aspect of Hunter Biden’s business transactions, including foreign payments, in the meantime.

The younger Biden is “getting away with a slap on the wrist,” according to Rep. James Comer, the Republican who chairs the House Oversight Committee, despite congressional investigations that GOP lawmakers claim reveal — but have not yet proven — a pattern of corruption involving the family’s financial ties.

On the other hand, U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a Delaware prosecutor judge appointed by Trump, claimed the matter was thoroughly probed over five years, according to Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware.

The case’s resolution, according to Coons, “brings to a close a five-year investigation, despite the elaborate conspiracy theories spun by many who believed there would be much more to this.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, who was slated to campaign alongside the president Tuesday night, reiterated his support for Biden’s reelection.

“Hunter changes nothing,” Newsom stated to The AP on Tuesday.

In order to eliminate any potential conflicts of interest inside the Justice Department, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to conduct an impartial inquiry into the allegations against President Trump.

Hunter Biden revealed that he had received a subpoena as part of the department’s examination of his taxes in December 2020, one month after the 2020 election, and that this was the beginning of the Justice Department’s probe into the president’s son. The younger Biden’s financial dealings with a variety of organisations, notably the Ukraine gas company Burisma, whose board he served on, were the subject of the subpoena.

In a statement at the time, Hunter Biden stated that he was “confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers.”

Since then, testimony on his taxes and international business dealings has been heard before a federal grand jury in Delaware.

As is common in a new presidential administration, the department requested the resignation of the majority of the U.S. attorneys from the Trump era in February 2021, but made a point to note that it was keeping Weiss in place to maintain continuity in the investigation.

At a congressional hearing in August of last year, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that the Baltimore field office of the agency was still conducting the probe and that “I expect our folks to pursue this aggressively.”

At a subsequent hearing in March, Garland promised not to get involved in the investigation. However, a later letter to Congress from an unnamed IRS special agent in which he requested whistleblower protection claimed that the inquiry had been handled improperly.

In 2014, when his father, Barack Obama’s vice president at the time, was assisting in the administration’s foreign policy towards Ukraine, the younger Biden joined the board of Burisma. Without providing any supporting proof, Trump and his allies have long claimed that Hunter Biden’s work in Ukraine influenced the Obama administration’s views towards the country in East Europe.

Years before the case was brought, Hunter Biden emerged as a key figure in the first impeachment case against Trump. Trump had reportedly asked Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a phone call to announce an investigation into the younger Biden in an apparent effort to boost his own reelection bid.

Republican candidates for president in 2020 later tried to make Hunter Biden’s business connections in Ukraine a major issue.

Hunter Biden had left a laptop at a Delaware computer repair shop 18 months prior, and it had never been picked up. The New York Post stated that it had gotten a copy of the hard drive of the laptop from Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani in October of that year.

Giuliani’s participation in the laptop’s origins and the fact that senior Trump administration officials had previously issued a warning that Russia was attempting to harm Joe Biden before of the November election raised doubts about the story. There is yet no proof that the laptop or the emails discovered on the advice had any link to Russia.

Sen. John Fetterman’s Monday tweet honouring “Black lives” and Juneteenth was criticised by Twitter users, who were quick to point out that the Pennsylvania Democrat had once pulled a shotgun on an unarmed black jogger.

Cheers to Juneteenth! Today, we commemorate emancipation and consider the lasting effects of systemic racism in America, commented Fetterman on social media.

The former mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania, continued, “PA always stands by the unwavering truth that Black families matter + Black lives matter.”

When Fetterman chased down a fleeing African-American man in 2013 and drew a shotgun on him because he assumed the man had been involved in a shooting, some users accused Fetterman of utilising racial profiling.

Why don’t you recount the incident when you chased a black jogger while holding a shotgun to his head because you believed he was a criminal? Tim Murtaugh, a former director of communications for the Trump campaign, stated in a tweet.

A fellow at the Foundation for Defence of Democracies named Spencer Brown shared a graphic that stated, “John Fetterman chased down an innocent unarmed black man,” and featured a picture of the senator wearing his recognisable sweatshirt.

The jogger was pursued down by Fetterman’s truck, and he confronted him with a 20-gauge shotgun at his side after rushing his then-4-year-old kid into his home and calling the police, the man recalled to a nearby TV station at the time.

In an interview at the time, Fetterman remarked, “I believe I did the right thing, but I may have broken the law in the course of doing it, and I’m certainly not above the law.”

In response to accusations of racial profiling, the senator has asserted that he was unaware that the jogger was black.

However, the runner, Christopher Miyares, claimed in an interview at the time that Fetterman “aimed it at my chest.” The former lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania insists he never pointed the shotgun at the man.

“He was a white man with a gun chasing a black man,” Fawn Walker-Montgomery, a former city councilwoman from a region close to Braddock, told NBC News in April. “If I chased after someone with a gun, I would still be in jail,” said the man who once served on McKeesport’s city council. He is demonstrating that he is ignorant of his white privilege.

During an engagement with Biden in Philadelphia, Sen. John Fetterman speaks incoherently and dons baggy shorts.
When it was discovered that Fetterman had erased multiple references to “Black Lives Matter” from his campaign website, he also came under fire on the campaign trail in 2022.

He removed any references to “Black Lives Matter” from his website’s “issues” page, but left parts on inflation, criminal justice reform, legalising marijuana, renewable energy, immigration, and several other subjects in tact.

At the time, a spokeswoman for Fetteramn claimed it was “false” to claim that the campaign had eliminated all mentions of Black Lives Matter. He clarified that in a “personalised video” on the website discussing gun violence, Fetterman makes reference to Black Lives Matter.

The one portion you appear to be referring to was eliminated weeks ago, according to a statement made by Joe Calvello to Fox News Digital at the time.
