On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, police blocked entrances to Boulder High School following an unconfirmed report of a person with a gun at the school.

Four more unconfirmed incidents at Colorado high schools have been reported, following an unconfirmed report of an active shooter at Boulder High School and a “unknown incident” near Aspen Schools.

So far, no victims have been found at any of the schools, and nearly all of them have been cleared of any threat.

After receiving a “threatening call,” Brighton police conducted an investigation at Brighton High School.

Other schools were briefly placed on lockdown while police investigated, but the lockdown at Brighton High School was lifted at 9:45 a.m. after police determined there was no credible threat.

Caon City police are also working to secure Caon City High School after receiving a bomb threat.

Caon City Schools’ website was updated at 10:04 a.m., stating that the “validity of the threat is unknown at this time,” but no injuries or suspects have been reported. At the time of the update, the school was still on lockdown.

In Alamosa, Ortega Middle School was placed on lockdown after a call reported an armed person at the school, but the lockdown was lifted within five minutes, according to the Alamosa School District.

Glenwood Springs High School was briefly closed, and other schools in the Roaring Fork district were placed on lockdown, but all restrictions were lifted within 15 minutes.

Boulder High School is evacuating and reuniting students, and all classes and after-school activities have been cancelled. There were no victims discovered there, either.

According to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, all threats have been removed from Aspen Schools, and reunification is taking place there as well.

In a tweet, the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management stated that they are monitoring the situation at the schools, but that no districts have requested assistance.
