David Bednar, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, displayed his talent by earning his team’s 25th save against the New York Mets recently. In the ninth inning, Bednar joined the game. He gave up just one hit and struck out one batter, ending the inning scoreless and helping the Pirates win 7-4.

Earlier in August, Bednar experienced a temporary dip, but now he seems to be back in shape. He has kept up great numbers all season, pitching 49.2 innings with a 1.99 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a strong 60:15 K:BB ratio. Bednar has converted 25 of his 28 chances to save the game, establishing his position as the Pirates’ go-to closer.

Bednar’s performance here demonstrates his value to the squad and his capacity to constantly execute under duress. He has clearly become into a valuable weapon for the Pirates’ bullpen thanks to his remarkable numbers.
