According to a Variety story, former “That ’70s Show” actor Danny Masterson was found guilty of two counts of rape on Wednesday. The site added that the jury was unable to find the defendant guilty of a third accusation of rape.

It was Masterson’s second rape trial; the first trial had ended in a mistrial last November because a different jury was unable to reach a majority verdict. Following the verdict, the actor was brought into custody and is currently awaiting sentencing. He could be imprisoned for 30 years to life.
Family members of Masterson who were sat in the audience could be heard gasping shortly after the judge handed out the decision, according to the Variety article.

After being charged with raping three women at his Hollywood Hills residence between 2001 and 2003, Masterson went on trial. Even though the actor was found guilty of raping two women in 2003, a decision on the case involving his ex-girlfriend from 2001 could not be made.

A hearing is now set for August 4 where Masterson is expected to be sentenced, according to Variety.

His wife Bijou Phillips was seen sobbing in the front row of the audience.

Variety also carried a statement from one of the victims, known in court as Jane Doe 2. “I am experiencing a complex array of emotions – relief, exhaustion, strength, sadness – knowing that my abuser, Danny Masterson, will face accountability for his criminal behaviour,” she said in the statement.

The actor, now 47, first gained notoriety with the 1998 premiere of the ’70s-themed sitcom ‘That ’70s Show,’ in which he co-starred with actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher as Steven Hyde.

He collaborated once again with Kutcher on Netflix’s “The Ranch,” but after Los Angeles Police announced they were looking into additional rape allegations against the actor, he was sacked and the show was cancelled in 2017.
