The couple’s transportation was handled by a security company, according to Tom Buda, who told NBC News that the photographers had

exhibited “reckless” behaviour.

The leader of the security company in charge of their transportation told NBC News that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, were “shaken up” when they were trailed by paparazzi around New York City earlier this week.

The couple and Meghan Ragland’s mother, Doria Ragland, were “in danger” due to the chase, according to Tom Buda. He continued by saying that he “felt bad they were shaken up.” He added Meghan’s mother had been particularly impacted.

After learning that the trio had sought safety at a New York City police station after what law enforcement officials described as a “chaotic pursuit” by photographers as they left a charity event in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday night, Buda, the head of Buda Security Inc., came out.

A spokesperson for the couple said on Wednesday that a “ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” was to blame for the “near catastrophic car chase.” It took place for more than two hours, they continued, and “resulted in numerous near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers.”

Law enforcement sources denied that the situation was “near catastrophic,” but they did acknowledge that it was “a little chaotic.”

According to police officials, the pair left New York’s Ziegfeld Ballroom at 10 p.m. after attending the Women of Vision Awards.

Since the duchess missed King Charles III’s coronation, it had been a while since Harry and Meghan had attended a public event.

Officers “assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” according to Julian Phillips, the police department’s deputy commissioner for public communications.

The TorchStone global security organisation hired Buda, who claimed the pursuing photographers were “driving aggressively and badly.” He continued by saying that they were “following us to find out where we were staying.” He continued by saying that some vehicles were attempting to pass them, and the vehicles in front were trying to slow down traffic.

Buda claimed that even though it “was not a high speed pursuit,” “it was reckless by them.” They headed to the 19th Precinct station of the NYPD, he continued.

One of the photo companies, Backgrid USA Inc., refuted the couple’s claims in a statement, claiming that it had “received photos and videos of last night’s events from four freelance photographers, three of whom were in cars and one of whom was riding a bicycle.”

They simply had their cameras, so they had no desire to do any harm or hardship. A handful of the images even depict Meghan Markle grinning inside a taxi, according to the statement.

It added that it wanted “to point out that according to the photographers present, there were no near-collisions or near-crashes during this incident.” “The photographers report that one of the four SUVs from Prince Harry’s security escort was driving in a manner that could be perceived as reckless,” it said. The photographers claimed to have had the impression that the pair was never in immediate danger.

The couple’s squad waved down a taxi at the police station that was being driven by Sonny Singh, 37, of Queens. On Wednesday, according to Singh, the group was about to go when a garbage truck stopped in front of them, delaying their exit and giving pursuing photographers time to gather around the group.

Before Harry and Meghan got out of the cab back at the police station and got back into their car, they merely drove about the neighbourhood and accrued a $17.80 fare, he said. According to Singh, they paid the fare and added a $50 tip.

According to Katie Nicholl, a royal writer for blogtweets News, Harry’s reaction to the incident was “clearly going to be incredibly triggering for him” because of what happened to his mother Princess Diana, who passed away in a 1997 Paris automobile accident while being trailed by paparazzi.

She added on Wednesday that “one can imagine that he was feeling quite frightened and certainly threatened in that moment.” “He’s spoken before about the intrusion of the cameras, how the clicking of the cameras has a triggering effect on him,” she continued.
