‘The Masked Singer’ Medusa Bishop Briggs’ unmasked interview: ‘This is the weirdest, best thing ever!’
Following her rescue by “Ding Dong Keep It On” on “New York Night,” Medusa was determined to earn her place in Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer” finals. She fought back into the competition and defeated Mantis and Gargoyle in the “Battle of the Saved.” After sending California Roll home in the “Semi-Finals,” the five-piece she had first vanquished, the snake-headed singer sang her way through the “Quarter Finals (British Invasion Night)”.
Only Macaw stood between Medusa and the Golden Mask trophy when she dazzled panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg her renditions of “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance and “Elastic Heart” by Sia. She continued, “This means so much to me, and, the fact that I got to complete my journey with my sister’s favorite song, and, regrettably, she’s no longer here, makes it even more special. It has such great significance. I actually needed this for my spirit and my soul. Thank you, then.
Bishop Briggs, a multi-platinum recording artist, was identified as Medusa at the conclusion of the show. The Season 9 winner joined previous winners T-Pain (Monster), Wayne Brady (Fox), Kandi Burruss (Night Angel), LeAnn Rimes (Sun), Nick Lachey (Piglet), Jewel (Queen of Hearts), Teyana Taylor (Firefly), and Amber Riley (Harp) in this club.
“This is the most bizarre, amazing thing ever! During her unmasked interview, the singer said, “Thank you so much. “I want to offer David Archuleta, my formidable rival, my heartiest congrats. Oh no! I exclaimed as I overheard you during soundcheck. Though, “Oh, yes!” The fact that I was able to perform an emo anthem after such a bizarre journey means so lot to me. David’s story made me think, “Oh my gosh, look at us,” as I was listening. On this stage, two emo kids who are unsure of who they are and whether they want to continue. And we succeeded! The experience has been absolutely fantastic.
