The announcement that English fast bowler Jofra Archer will not play in the IPL 2023 has handed a serious setback to Mumbai Indians (MI) before of their key encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Chris Jordan will join the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the rest of the season, the team announced earlier. Given that he has only featured in five games for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and has only claimed two wickets at an economy rate of 9.50, Archer has had a negligible impact on the team.

Because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is still keeping an eye on Jofra Archer’s recuperation and fitness, Chris will take Jofra Archer’s spot in the Mumbai Indians lineup. The cricketer will return home to concentrate on his recovery. The fast bowler had recently made his international cricket comeback after missing nearly two years owing to back and elbow problems that had seriously jeopardised his career.

Chris Jordan, meanwhile, has already played in the IPL for the ECB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings but went unsold at a base price of Rs 2 crore during the December auction. In 28 IPL games since his 2016 IPL debut, the 34-year-old bowler has taken 27 wickets. In addition, he has played in 87 T20 Internationals for England and has claimed 96 T20 wickets. Jordan last participated in the IPL in 2022, taking two wickets in four games while playing for the Super Kings.

The decision to remove Jofra Archer from the Indian Premier League was mutually agreed upon, according to a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The ECB revealed that Archer had been having pain when playing recently and that it had been challenging to play through it. Archer had been recovering from surgery on his right elbow. In order to offer him the best chance for a full recovery, it was mutually decided that he should return to the UK for rest and rehabilitation.
