The Mumbai Indians (MI) will be led by India’s all-format captain Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2023. MI was dealt a major blow ahead of the IPL when pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out for the entire season. Jofra Archer of England will lead MI’s pace attack in the IPL 2023.

Hardik Pandya’s trophy-laden tenure with the Mumbai Indians (MI) came to an end prior to the start of the Indian Premier League’s 2022 season (IPL). The white-ball maverick parted ways with Rohit Sharma and company only to return as the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT) franchise in the IPL 2022. The local hero not only passed the captaincy test, but he also led Gujarat Titans to IPL glory in the 2022 season of the cash-rich league.

While Pandya’s IPL career reached new heights, Rohit’s Mumbai Indians finished 10th in the 10-team tournament last season. Kieron Pollard, the legendary West Indies all-rounder, announced his retirement from IPL cricket just before the start of the new season. However, following the departures of Pandya and Pollard, MI restructured their star-studded squad by signing Tim David and Cameron Green. At the Mumbai Indians, David and Green have been tasked with filling the void left by Pollard and Pandya.

David from Australia was signed by the Mumbai Indians for INR 8.25 crore during the IPL 2022 auction. The record-breaking winners then broke the bank for Green, who joined the Mumbai Indians for a whopping INR 17.50 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. Green recently hit his first international century against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The star all-rounder has represented Australia in 15 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and eight Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Rohit Sharma, India’s all-format captain, will lead the Mumbai Paltan batting charge in the IPL 2023. MI’s world-class batting lineup will include youngsters Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis in addition to Indian opener Ishan Kishan and top-ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav. MI was dealt a major blow ahead of the IPL 2023 when pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out for the entire season. Jofra Archer of England will lead MI’s pace attack in the IPL 2023.

Pacer Jhye Richardson, who was brought in as a backup bowler, is expected to replace Bumrah in the MI lineup next season. Either Jason Behrendorff or Richardson can make the MI starting lineup. The Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the league’s fifth match on April 2 (Sunday) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
