Official UFC 290 main card lineup
The main pay-per-view programme for UFC 290 is available.
The UFC’s annual International Fight Week celebrations resume on July 8 with a packed card highlighted by two title fights: the co-main event features Brandon Moreno defending his flyweight title against Alexandre Pantoja, while the main event features Alexander Volkanovski defending his featherweight title against interim champion Yair Rodriguez.
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas hosts UFC 290.
As of right now, Volkanovski has the No. 2 spot among male fighters competing in MMA. After losing to Islam Makhachev in his attempt to win the two-division championship this past February, he is attempting to defend his title for the fifth time in a row. Rodriguez, who won the temporary championship by submitting Josh Emmett in the second round, must be defeated for him to succeed.
Both of Moreno and Pantoja’s previous battles ended in Moreno’s defeat. Pantoja won their debut match in a 2016 exhibition on TUF 24 after applying a rear-naked choke in the second round. In a 2018 UFC fight, Pantoja went on to win the rematch by unanimous decision.
The No. 1 contender’s bout between former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and rising contender Dricus Du Plessis, the thrilling lightweight match between Jalin Turner and Dan Hooker, and the middleweight contest that will kick off the pay-per-view card between top prospect Bo Nickael and Tresean Gore round out the main card.
