According to her daughter Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher brought sparkle wherever she went. She even threw glitter at Star Wars fans she met at conventions. Therefore, Lourd brought some to Fisher’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star’s unveiling and afterwards sprinkled some on it.

May 4 is recognized as Star Wars Day due to the date’s resemblance to one of the series’ catchphrases, “may the Force be with you.” Fisher, who is best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars film series, received the award.

The star for Mark Hamill, who portrayed Luke Skywalker, is only a few feet apart from that of Leia, her twin brother. At the ceremony on Thursday, Hamill spoke of meeting Fisher before Star Wars filming, when he was 24 and she was 19.

“Every expectation I had was just obliterated,” he claimed. “I just couldn’t believe it; she was so endearing, witty, adorable, and intelligent beyond her years. And ruthlessly honest!”

Fisher was nominated for Emmys for her one-woman show, Wishful Drinking, as well as for her guest appearances on 30 Rock and Catastrophe. She also had memorable film roles in When Harry Met Sally and The Blues Brothers. The latter was based on one of her many novels and memoirs, the same-named book.

But she would be best remembered for her portrayal as Leia, first as a princess and then a commander. However, her daughter didn’t at first react that way.

When Fisher initially tried to expose Billie Lourd to the space saga when she was a young girl, her responses were “it’s too loud, mama” and “is that lady in the TV you?” Billie Lourd recalled this on Thursday. She didn’t start seeing the movies until she was in middle school and her stunned classmates started inquiring about her mother.

While concentrating on the screen that day, I came to the conclusion that Princess Leia would always be the epitome of cool and sex.

She continued by saying that she had completely embraced her devotion by collecting Princess Leia memorabilia, incorporating Star Wars decor into her house, and even landing a role in later films. Additionally, she recalls going to fan events with Fisher and remarking that her mother was quite cool.

People lined up for hours simply to meet her, got tattoos of her, and even gave their children her names, according to Lourd.

Along with being “an incredible actress who infused her strength and wit into every role she played,” Fisher was also “one of the funniest writers I’ve ever come across,” according to Lourd, whose mother was also an incredible actor. Fisher wrote seven books in addition to some highly quotable tweets, according to her daughter, as well as some strong messages excuseing her from school.

In 2016, Fisher passed away one day before her mother, the actress Debbie Reynolds. Lourd admitted that she was disappointed that her own kids never got to meet their grandmother, but she was overjoyed that she could still give them a piece of Fisher through Leia.
