During RCB’s match against MI, Siraj was involved in a horrific collision with Karthik. After the incident, Kohli had an animated reaction.
Virat Kohli was furious with his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammates on Sunday after a miscommunication between Mohammed Siraj and Dinesh Karthik gave Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma a lifeline during match No.5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The record-breaking Mumbai Indians didn’t have the best of starts when they opened their IPL 2023 campaign against Faf du Plessis’ RCB at the famous M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is located in Chennai, India.

Leading the hosts’ pace attack in the blockbuster match, pace ace Mohammed Siraj handed MI an early setback by dismissing Ishan Kishan in the third over. In the absence of injured pacer Josh Hazlewood, England’s Reece Topley joined forces with Siraj and then removed superstar Cameroon Green to put RCB on top during the powerplay. During the fifth over of Mumbai’s innings, pacer Siraj almost caused a top-order collapse by forcing Rohit to pull his short delivery.

With Rohit creating a catching opportunity with his mistimed shot, Siraj and Karthik emerged as the leading candidates to complete Rohit’s dismissal. Despite getting his hands on the ball, Siraj was unable to take the catch due to a horrific collision with teammate Karthik. Former RCB captain Kohli’s animated reaction to the heinous incident quickly became the talk of the town on social media.

Though Rohit was given an early reprieve, the MI captain’s stay at the crease was cut short when the senior batter was caught by Akash Deep in the sixth over. In MI’s IPL 2023 opener in Bengaluru, the Indian captain scored 1 off 10 balls against RCB. Soon after Rohit was dismissed, Michael Bracewell took the crucial wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, reducing Mumbai Indians to 48-4 in 8.5 overs.
