Reddit Down: Site Says Fix May Take ‘Some Time to Implement’

UPDATED: On Tuesday, Reddit was experiencing an hours-long outage that rendered the popular discussion site inaccessible to many users — and the company had no idea when it would be resolved.
In an update at 2:43 p.m. “We’ve identified a fix which may take some time to implement, in the meantime ready your bananas (or eat them!,” Reddit’s status page said.

According to monitoring site Downdetector, user reports of problems accessing Reddit’s website and apps peaked around noon PT on Tuesday, surpassing more than 60,000 outage reports. The Reddit status page, at 12:18 p.m. PT, posted, “Investigating – Reddit is currently offline.

According to Reddit, there are over 100,000 active communities from all over the world on the site, covering a wide range of topics and interests.

Reddit revealed a “data security incident” last month in which a hacker used a “sophisticated phishing campaign” to gain access to internal documents and business information.
