Day 2 highlights of the 2nd Test between India and Australia: Axar Patel scored a brilliant 74 as India managed 262/10 in their first innings in response to Australia’s 263/10. Axar’s powerful performance also helped India recover from 139/7, as he added 114 runs for the eighth wicket with Ashwin. Pat Cummins dismissed Ashwin for 37 runs. Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon was the standout performer from the Australian camp, having earlier in the day run through the Indian top-order to put the hosts on the back foot. Lyon ended the game with five wickets. While Ashwin and Axar’s partnership increased the pressure on the Australians, they responded by launching their second innings with a bang. While Khawaja was out to Ravindra Jadeja, Marnus Labuschagne came in and joined Head in keeping Australia’s run rate above five for the rest of the day. Australia were 61/1 at Stumps, trailing India by 62 runs. Head has scored 39 runs off 40 balls, while Labuschagne has 16 runs off 19 balls.
